Leigh Davies is an award winning Interactive Audiovisual Artist based in the UK. With his skills covering many fields such as art, musical composition and performance, animation and illustrative design his work has proven to be rich in creativity stretching broadly across many consumer platforms.
Leigh graduated from the 'University of Wales, Newport' in 2011 with a BA(Hons) degree in Creative Sound and Music and currently strives to continue his professional development into the world of interactive art, music and media. He is also studying for the C.M.P. MA degree as a next stage development towards his projects during 2011.
A few years ago, Leigh began his solo musical path with his first album 'The Mona Lisa Speaks'. Approaching the creation of this album with a new found outlook on the creativity of sound, he created 8 tracks for the album that follow the rules, themes and forms of the...
...composition of visual art; more specifically, painting.
In 2010 Leigh began his first professional large scale project; Rayne. Applying for project funding from Phones4U, he was successful in his application and work on the project began in October 2010. From here his many creative endeavours began to
incorporate the many areas in which his skills lie.
Leigh is currently working with Incidental on the initial development, upkeep and further development of the audio based iPad application Feed which is now available on the app store. He is also currently developing several new interactive projects as well as a new compositional album which will be revealed over the next few months.
Rayne is an ongoing project by Leigh Davies which began in June of 2010. The purpose of the project was to invent a device that could create oil-on-water artwork using music as the paintbrush. Rayne was built to understand the melody from a musical performance and uses the information to dispense different coloured oil droplets depending on which notes are being played. As the melodies grow and evolve so do the paintings, with the oils ebbing and shifting across the surface of the water allowing for the creation of a beautiful visual representation of the very sounds that brought it to life.
Here you can look through several categories which catalogue Leigh's artwork which vary across different kinds of medium such as Watercolour, Oil on Canvas, Ink, Charcoal and Mixed Media.
You can also browse through project photo galleries where you can view photos related to any of Leigh’s other interactive or musical projects.

The Mona Lisa Speaks (2010)
The first album from Leigh Davies. The Mona Lisa Speaks was designed around an emerging set of creative rules for Leigh as a practitioner. By sculping thoughts into sound using the laws, rules, themes and forms of visual art is how this collection of tracks came to be.
